Job Summary

The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) is encouraging applications for a reliable, detailed individual to assist multiple labs with everyday tasks, as well as learn and perform some specific lab tasks requiring the use of solvents and chemicals. This position will also support the production manager with several tasks routinely to support the production group being productive creating high quality space flight products.

LASP is a world-renowned space science research institute at the University of Colorado Boulder. Professional engineers work closely with scientists and assembly technicians in designing and building space flight hardware while helping mentor students as entry-level engineers working on these programs. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
  • Perform selected production tasks using solvents or chemicals such as coating screws with lubricant, cleaning electrical circuit boards.
  • Ensure production equipment remains in calibration.
  • Work in a precision cleaning lab to clean spaceflight hardware and assist in the training of students in this area as needed.
  • Manage the inventory of production/lab materials and supplies and place orders as required.
  • Facilitate the request and purchase of production equipment with the production manager and production staff.
  • Assist in the organization and overall cleanliness of production areas.
  • Work with the production manager to identify priority areas needing attention on a daily or weekly basis.
  • Move production jobs between different work cells when called upon.
  • Coordinate students working in these lab areas as needed.
  • Manage and coordinate setting up equipment for calibration as submitted by the engineers.
  • Lab Bench certifications and maintenance in production areas.

The hiring range is $38,480.00 to $43,500.00.

What We Require
  • Technical degree or two years of professional experience including laboratory or production experience.
What You Will Need
  • Organization Skills.
  • Detail Oriented.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
What We Would Like You To Have
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Previous experience working in a production or laboratory environment.
  • Advanced Excel Skills.
  • Previous experience working with Inventory.
