Clinical Assistant Professor of Data Science and Analytics

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, non-tenure track faculty position as Clinical Assistant Professor of Data Science and Analytics in the School of Data Science and Analytics beginning August 2022.  

 

This is a non-tenure-track, nine-month, teaching-focused appointment. Faculty will be expected to:

  • teach a broad range of undergraduate, MS, and/or PhD level courses, based on qualifications. Specific courses may include, but are not limited to: Introduction to Statistics, Introduction to Data Science, Computer Applications of Statistics, Applied Regression, Data Mining, etc.
  • perform needed service at the School, College, and University levels, and
  • potentially participate in applied consulting project-based work.  

 

All candidates should have a strong academic background in statistics, mathematics, analytics, data science, mathematics/statistics education, or quantitative social science. We are especially interested in colleagues that have industry experience in areas like finance, health care, public health, education, etc.

 

Other responsibilities may include assisting in the development and revision of academic programs, supervising graduate teaching assistants, and undergraduate and graduate research.

 

Required Qualifications Include:

  • An earned PhD degree, or the foreign equivalent, in statistics, data science, analytics, mathematics, or a related field, is required at the time of appointment.
  • Proficiency in at least one analytical programming language (e.g., R, Python, SAS, or other similar)

 

Preferred Qualifications Include:

  • Experience teaching undergraduates
  • Experience teaching on-line or hybrid courses
  • Evidence of working with a culturally and an ethnically diverse community
  • Experience in working in statistics, data science, or analytics in any setting
