The Coordinator of International Recruitment and Advising will be responsible for the recruitment of international and internationally educated students to CMU’s undergraduate programs. This role requires a passion for promoting the advantages of CMU as well as informing, encouraging, and advising prospective international students.

This person will work with government bodies, other institutions, other CMU departments, and agencies to support the ongoing recruitment of international students from inquiry to full-time student on campus. This position is part of the Enrolment team and reports to the Director of Enrolment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out all aspects of recruitment pertaining to international students from inquiry to enrolment including:
    • Establish and maintain personal, direct contact with prospects and inquiries
    • Maintain prospective international student records in the CRM database
    • Work with international student applicants on study permits required, admissions requirements, and Canadian requirements for international student travel, etc.
    • Conduct one-on-one meetings via Zoom (which often occur outside regular central time zone) to answer prospect and applicant concerns and questions
  • Stay up to date on all areas that affect international students including but not limited to:
    • Government regulations
    • Cultural sensitivities and awareness
    • Travel restrictions and requirements
    • Vaccine requirements and regulations
  • Liaise with CMU departments that work closely with international students, educating individuals as required
  • Conduct information sessions for prospective students on issues relating to their immigration status as international students in Canada (this implies having RISIA designation or willingness to take the RISIA training and exam, paid for by CMU)
  • Prepare webinars and Zoom presentations for international prospective students and their families about CMU and coming to Canada to study
  • Assist in the development and preparation of online materials for international prospects and applicants including email communication, web pages, video, social media
  • Prepare orientation workshops for new international students for before and after arrival in Canada
  • Assist with development of an English Language Institute as a pathway to English proficiency for international students wishing to study at CMU (undergraduate). Once the ELI is operational, recruit and assist in the administration of the ELI.
  • Build relationships with key influencers in the local international community
  • Represent CMU on Manitoba Council for International Education alongside the Director of Enrolment
  • Work with organizations world-wide to establish CMU as a viable destination for international students
  • Assess, develop, and implement all procedures related to agents who work on behalf of CMU for recruitment purposes should CMU choose to go this direction in the coming year(s)
  • Some international travel may be required in the future
  • Support the overall work of the Enrolment Department
Qualifications
  • Commitment to the Christian Church and mission of CMU
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Regulated International Student Immigration Advisor (RISIA) or RCIC designation, or willingness to achieve either
  • Excellent written and virtual communications skills
  • Cross cultural experience an asset
  • Previous experience in international recruitment an asset
  • Strong interpersonal relationship and crisis management skills
  • Ability to collaborate well within a team and across departments
  • Good organizational skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to travel internationally (post COVID-19)
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent

Salary is dependent on relevant experience, education, and professional designation.
