The Northern State University Art Department is seeking applications for an Assistant Professor, tenure track assignment in the area of 3D Media and Director of Northern Galleries.

Primary assigned duties will include:

 Teach Ceramics and Sculpture class sections, beginning through advanced.  Ability to teach foundations sections in 2D Design and 3D Design preferred.

 Manage Northern Galleries. Duties to include scheduling of exhibits, visiting artists/scholars and installation of exhibits. Gallery Director assignment carries one course release time.

 Oversee and manage ceramics and sculpture studios, including kilns, metals area, and wood shop.  Teaching skill sets in both traditional and contemporary practice.

 Participate in department activities including recruitment, student advising and mentoring, department planning, field trips and student advocacy.

 Serve on University Committee(s) as assigned. Preferred candidates will hold an appropriate terminal degree (MFA) with studio emphasis in either ceramics and/or sculpture Knowledge of current issues in contemporary art, and traditional/contemporary studio practice. Evidence of current professional activities and higher education teaching experience (beyond the T.A.) preferred. Academic Achievement/Professional Development examples may include:

 Publications (editing, citations, etc.)

 Presentations at professional meetings  20 examples of art and/or design works

 20 examples of student artwork

 Other professional service or development activities

Northern State University is a NASAD accredited institution offering AS, BA and BFA degree programs in Digital Media and Studio Fine Art, and a BSED degree in Art Education.
