  Position Announcement
  The Architecture Department at the University of Oregon is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure track assistant professor position in Mass Timber Design and Construction to begin Fall 2022. Candidates should have the potential to make a strong contribution to the design and technical areas of the curriculum and to pursue a well-defined research and/or creative practice agenda with a commitment to sustained inquiry into emerging issues in the field of Mass Timber Design and Construction, including digital fabrication, robotics and prototyping, innovative building design and enclosure systems, net-zero or carbon negative design, and mass timber product development.
  
  Candidates are expected to develop and teach innovative design studios, lecture courses and seminars in integrated building design in the department's professional programs, the new Mass Timber Design focus within the MS degree program, and the Ph.D. degree program in Sustainable Design. The department is seeking candidates who address the synthesis of building design and sustainable technologies in their teaching and research and have a strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration. In particular, candidates will be expected to make significant contributions to the Department's participation in the TallWood Design Institute (TDI), a partnership of the University of Oregon's College of Design and Oregon State University's Colleges of Forestry and Engineering focused on the advancement of timber design and manufacturing through research, testing, outreach and education (http://tallwoodinstitute.org). A successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in research funding and the state-of-the-art A.A. “Red” Emmerson Advanced Wood Products Laboratory through TDI.
  
  Department or Program Summary
  The Department of Architecture is located within the School of Architecture & Environment (SAE), part of the College of Design at the University of Oregon, an Association of American Universities member and tier-one research institution in the Pacific Northwest that is ranked “highest research activity” by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. The School of Architecture & Environment offers doctoral degree programs in architecture and landscape architecture, graduate degrees in historic preservation, fully accredited graduate and undergraduate professional degrees in architecture, interior architecture, and landscape architecture, and concurrent graduate degree programs.

  Minimum Requirements
  1. Candidates must hold a graduate degree that may be in architecture, engineering, or an allied field; they must have at least one professional degree in architecture.
  2. Candidates must exhibit the capacity to develop a successful record of publication of research and/or creative/professional work in the field of mass timber design and building technology.
  3. Demonstrated ability to support and enhance a diverse learning and working environment
  
  Preferred Qualifications
  1. Experience in collaborative work in architecture and/or in a related field.
  2. An aptitude for innovative construction methods (such as modular, digital, or robotic fabrication).
  3. Professional architectural registration (license)
  4. PhD. or D.Des in architecture, engineering or other allied field
  5. A record of successful publication of research and/or creative/professional work.
  6. A record of successful previous teaching experience in architecture, including design studios and building technology courses.
