Job Description

Essential Duties

  • Provide team management, leadership, and guidance to continue to advance the Data ETL team.
  • Assist in resource planning and schedule and train ETL development resources
  • Analyze and interpret complex data on source and target systems and analyze and provide resolutions to any data issues and coordinate with data analyst to validate requirements, perform interviews with users and developers.
  • Collaborate with business analyst, data analyst and data scientist to construct data models to be used to define the transformation stage and underlying technologies that will perform formatting.
  • Develop Datamart models and prepare reports for meta data integration into systems and draft ETL scripts and prepare required reports for all end users.
  • Outline the ETL process, setting the borders of data processing and design system architecture for each element and the whole data pipeline
  • Coordinate and Implement ETL procedures for new projects and maintain effective awareness of production activities according to required standards and provide support to existing applications.
  • Develop and perform tests on ETL codes and design data mapping techniques for data models in systems.
  • Collaborate with all developers and business users to gather required data and execute ETL programs and scripts on systems and implement Datamart activities and prepare reports for same.
  • Document technical and system specifications for ETL processes and perform unit tests on processes and prepare required programs and scripts.
  • Document all test procedures for systems and processes and coordinate with business analysts and users to resolve all requirement issues and maintain quality for same.
  • Monitor all business requirements and validate all designs and schedule all ETL processes and prepare documents for all data flow diagrams.
  • Perform tests and provide update to ETL activities within schedule and provide support to large data volumes and assist in data processing.
  • Perform tests and validate data flows and prepare ETL processes according to business requirements and incorporate business requirements into design specifications.
  • Perform root cause analysis on ETL processes and resolve any production issues and validate data and perform routine tests on databases and provide support to ETL applications.
  • Provide support to ETL schedule and maintain compliance to same and develop and maintain various standards to perform ETL codes and maintain an effective project life cycle on ETL processes.
  • Assist leadership in the strategic planning of the future of the Data ETL Team.
  • Assumes or coordinates other duties or projects as assigned or directed.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or closely related field.8 years web, database or related with 3 years full project management within an IT environment.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
  • Experience managing or leading project development teams
  • Demonstrated knowledge proficiency about data virtualization
  • Experience in at least one ETL tool (Alteryx, SSIS, Talend, Pentaho, etc.). ETL tool like Alteryx or Matillion is a plus.
  • Experience in SQL and AWS Redshift development
  • Evidence of expertise in scripting languages (Python, Bash, Perl, etc.). Python is a plus
  • Experience in programming languages (JavaScript, Java, C++, etc.)
  • Evidence of specialization in database engineering skills (SQL, RedShift, NoSQL, etc.)
  • Experience in modelling techniques and modeling tools (Toad Data Modeler, Erwin, etc.).
  • Evidence of parameterization of ETL jobs for better time management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge proficiency about OLAP, SSAS, SSIS, and MDX.
  • Evidence of data analytical, thinking, and troubleshooting skills
  • Evidence of project management skills
  • Evidence of effective communication skills
  • Demonstrate ability to solve complicated technical issues, understand risks prior to the occurrence
  • Evidence of competence to understand the large picture of the organizational data situation
  • Evidence of collaborative and team skills
  • Demonstrate abilities of task organization, time management, and project management skills
  • Evidence of creative, innovative, out-of-the-box thinking and drive to learn new things.
  • Evidence of problem-solving skills

 

Working Environment

EdPlus at ASU is located at SkySong, the ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center. The center houses a diverse business community that links technology, research, education and entrepreneurship to position ASU and Greater Phoenix as global leaders in the knowledge economy.

 

Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting or standing. Daily use of desktop or laptop computer is required. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties. Regular review of completed tasks.
