Director of Digital Marketing and Analytics

(Open to Hybrid/Remote Work), SC Johnson College of Business

Our Team:

The Office of Marketing and Communications (MarCom) plays a strategic role in supporting the success of the college’s short-term and long-term goals for enrollment, alumni relations, philanthropy, brand visibility, and external reputation. Within our office, the marketing team is a group of data-savvy and performance-oriented types who aim to elevate the quantity and quality of engagement and enrollment outcomes. We develop, deploy, and optimize marketing communications campaigns and a multi-faceted organic website presence that can connect meaningfully with our prospective and current students, alumni, and other key audiences.

 

This Position:

The Director of Digital Marketing and Analytics must have a strategic mindset and a passion for data. They will lead a team that formulates digital campaign strategies and tactics that meet the goals and objectives of our college. Reporting to the Executive Director of Marketing, this role will build on the digital marketing expertise of the team and perform in-depth analysis of campaign results to derive impactful strategic insights. They will use data to identify learnings to optimize media mixes, campaign plans, and digital execution. In partnership with the Director of Web and Digital Experience, this role will establish benchmarks and KPIs to measure web performance and advise on all digital marketing and communication channels.

 

Successful candidates will have a demonstrated track record in using data visualization to present in-depth findings, building reporting dashboards that incorporate multiple data sources, writing queries, performing ad hoc data analyses, and developing reports, forecasts, and data models for budgeting and ROI planning. They must be highly collaborative and comfortable working with, and managing, relationships and outcomes across a variety of internal and external constituents.

 

Key responsibilities for the Director of Digital Marketing and Analytics:

  • Oversee the analytics team in measuring the success of campaigns, website performance, and developing an omnichannel attribution model.
  • Develop strategic recommendations that reflect the knowledge of each programs’ business objectives and proactively sharing ideas and recommendations with marketing and communication leadership and colleagues.
  • Present insights and data-driven recommendations to partners. Recommend strategies and tactics that will result in continuous website, SEO/SEM and email marketing enhancements for improvement and growth.
  • Provide feedback to in-house and agency content and creative teams to optimize assets for digital marketing channels.
  • Participate in ad-hoc analytics across all marketing channels. This could include building statistical models of how media affects key business outcomes, analytics of programs, creative, offer types, and other testing.
  • Develop benchmarks and track success metrics to show ROI for business and planning.
  • Analyze web and app performance and behaviors using various data sources (preferred experience in Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, Salesforce, Slate, CollegeNet, Pardot, and proprietary systems).

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience.
  • Experience in the development, execution, and measurement of multi-dimensional strategic marketing initiatives.
  • Direct experience working with all levels of an organization’s leadership in the adoption of plans, tactics, and making course corrections on plans as needed based on emerging data, information, or market findings.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience, ideally within higher ed or at a digital, eCommerce, and/or mobile-first company.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong visual capabilities for data analysis and presenting on key insights and findings.
  • Strong management and leadership skills, including problem-solving and the ability to exercise sound judgement in decision-making.
  • Effective organization and project management skills including demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Experience with lead generation, digital marketing, conversion metrics and customer acquisition strategies.
  • Strong experience using Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, and/or similar systems.
  • Experience with Google Tag Manager (GTM), Google Optimize, and/or similar systems.
  • Ability to build out reporting dashboards and provide insights and recommendations (Google Data Studio preferred) and/or similar systems.
  • Ability to analyze raw data and extract actionable insights that can be used for strategic planning, prioritization, or execution.
