Job Description

Applications are invited for a Research Assistant Professor/Research Associate Professor with Wireless@VirginiaTech (https://wireless.vt.edu/) and the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA. The position involves conducting theoretical and experimental research in the broad scope of wireless communications and networking, with a particular focus on Beyond 5G technologies and applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning to wireless systems. The candidate will assist with and utilize the 5G testbed being developed at Virginia Tech, as a part of state-wide Commonwealth Cybersecurity Initiative (CCI) - https://cyberinitiative.org/.

Depending on the credentials of the successful candidate, an offer of appointment may be made at either the research faculty rank of research assistant professor or research associate professor.

Required Qualifications

- PhD in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science or a related field with a communications and networking background is required
- Solid background in 5G and Beyond 5G technology
- Demonstrated ability to manage people and working effectively with in a diverse team
- Track record in publishing in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
- Good communication skills

Research Associate Professor applicants must have:
- Industry experience with at least some experience in academic
- A solid publication record
- Experience in supervision of students
- Special focus on 5G communications

Preferred Qualifications

- Hands-on experience with experimental research in communications and with communications testbeds
- Current research funding is highly desirable
