We are seeking aCash Accounting Supervisor to oversee the daily activities of the Cash Accounting team by ensuring that all cash items are posted and allocated appropriately in a timely fashion. The Supervisor monitors and assists with resolving unapplied cash. The Supervisor will also manage the petty cash window. The Supervisor will train staff and provide positive direction, guidance, and leadership for effective teamwork and motivation. This individual will work closely with their team and other managers to implement process improvements.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day supervision of the staff and work activities. This includes measuring and monitoring staff's daily productivity.
  • Oversee the Petty Cash window at Wyman Park to ensure the window is staffed and proper controls are in place.
  • Provide back-up for the department when staff is out of office.
  • Maintain proficiency in policies, procedures, and best practices for Cash Accounting.
  • Oversee monitoring of Cash Accounting email inboxes and assist with the allocation of follow-up.
  • Reach out to various JHU banking partners to request information on bank transactions
  • Serve as a resource for/with various departments to ensure smooth process flow, assist with answering questions, provide education, and investigate and resolve issues as requested.
  • Provide direct reports with clearly defined expectations, assign work/tasks appropriately, provide feedback to track analysts' performance, and ensure progress toward goals/objectives is made.
  • Manage Cash Accounting staff members (performance appraisal, feedback, discipline concerns).
  • Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or may assign new ones at any time with or without notice.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field.
  • 5 years of progressively responsible related work experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.*

* JHU Equivalency Formula:30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.  Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

** Applicants who do not meet the posted requirements but are completing their final academic semester/quarter will be considered eligible for employment and may be asked to provide additional information confirming their academic completion date.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with SAP.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to multi-task, self-motivated and driven.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to communicate effectively (written and oral). Position requires attention to detail and the ability to perform a varied assortment of task.
  • Good interpersonal skills for communicating with colleagues across various disciplines, attention to detail, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
