The School of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training at Pacific University Oregon invites applications for two 9-month, full-time faculty positions in our entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program. The academic rank of assistant or associate professor will depend on qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Both positions are available beginning in the 2022/2023 academic year (August start date).  These are term positions with the opportunity to convert to tenure-track. The Physical Therapy Program is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our academic community through their teaching, scholarship, and service. Special Position Characteristics:  The successful candidates will be expected to teach in one or more content areas including: a) Neurology, which includes neuroanatomy, neuroscience, and neuromuscular rehabilitation, b) Physiology & Pharmacology, c) Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, including peripheral vascular conditions, d) Wound care management, including burn care, e) Oncology rehabilitation, f) Therapeutic exercise, and g) Evidence-based practice.

 

Additional responsibilities include scholarship activities, student advisement, student capstone project direction, curriculum development, service at all levels of the University, and service to the profession. Specific assignments are dependent upon program needs. Candidates must be committed to student-centered education as well as working cooperatively with faculty and staff in the School, College, and University. 

 

Qualifications: The ideal candidates will have a terminal academic degree (PhD, EdD, DSc) in physical therapy or in a related field. Candidates with a DPT degree will also be considered.  Board certification in a specialty practice area is preferred.

 

Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of clinical/professional experience and physical therapists must possess an Oregon Physical Therapist License or be eligible for licensure in Oregon. Prior teaching, research, and service experience is preferred. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.  

 

General Information: The Physical Therapy Program at Pacific University offers education for entry into the profession.  Pacific University is a comprehensive independent university located 18 miles west of Portland, Oregon. The University is comprised of the Colleges of Health Professions, Optometry, Business, Education, and Arts and Sciences that serve approximately 2,000 graduate and 1,900 undergraduate students. The College of Health Professions consists of the Schools of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, Dental Hygiene Studies, Healthcare Administration and Leadership, Graduate Psychology, Pharmacy, and Audiology.
