COMPUTER LAB MANAGER - PART TIME

MALCOLM X COLLEGE

Malcolm X College is currently seeking a part-time Computer Lab Manager. The position is primarily responsible for supporting students, faculty and staff in the use of computer hardware and software in computer lab settings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Provides students, faculty and staff with support for technology in computer labs, and assists with tutoring technology requirements.
  • Works with administrative and academic staff to identify, maintain, install and test software applications for the open and instructional computer labs. Coordinates and schedules computer software implementation with academic departments.
  • Responsible for the protection of physical technology assets; conducts inventory management function for IT assets; secures classrooms and labs containing technical equipment. Performs ongoing equipment refresh; plans, manages and performs maintenance, installation, configuration, and basic troubleshooting of hardware/software in computer labs.
  • Analyzes, creates and submits incidents for technology related issues to the help desk.
  • Trains and schedules computer lab assistants/technicians and work-study student employees as required.
  • Assists with other college initiatives, such as, but not limited to, student registration, as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as needed, including, but not limited to, adherence to after hours, emergency, holiday, and/or on-call schedule.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related area supplemented by three to five years of experience in IT, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be able to lead and direct others.
  • Experience in the use and support of instructional technology preferred.
  • Strong background in computer applications and operating systems, including Windows products.
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills.
  • Great team player and self-starter.
