Job Description
Founded in 1967, Blue Ridge Community College has served the
residents of the central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia for over 50
years. Its comprehensive program of instruction includes associate
degrees, diplomas, and certificates in occupational/technical and
college/university transfer programs. The College also provides
non-credit workforce training and special interest classes for
individuals, business, and industry.
BRCC invites applications from veterinarians for a
full-time, 9-month faculty teaching position in Veterinary
Technology. Applicants must have a DVM or
equivalent degree and hold a veterinary license, or be eligible for
licensure, in the state of Virginia.
The position primarily involves teaching (traditional
classroom/laboratory instruction and online delivery) in one of the
premier, accredited veterinary technology programs in the
country.
The position also involves providing veterinary care, both
medical and surgical, to animals used in the program, supervising
students in laboratory and clinical settings, and engaging in
broader college wide activities.
Program facilities are well equipped for all aspects of veterinary technology instruction in delivering a broad array of courses. The program benefits from strong college administration and community support. Additionally, support and mentoring are provided by a large team of experienced, talented veterinarians and veterinary technicians currently on staff.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
DVM or equivalent degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary college, current active veterinary licensure, eligibility for licensure as a veterinarian in Virginia (if currently licensed elsewhere); strong small animal medical and surgical skills, a commitment to applications of instructional technology and an enthusiasm for the community college mission and environment.
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and a proven track record of working collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications
2 or more years of recent, relevant clinical
experience.
Community college or university teaching experience.
Familiarity with shared governance.
