Lecturer of Media and Communication, and Radio Station Manager

The Position: The College of Arts and Humanities at Lander University seeks applicants for a full-time Lecturer of Media and Communication. The position begins August 15, 2022. Applicants must be able to teach courses in radio, audio communication, and sports media, as well as serving as the station manager for the university’s student-driven online radio station, XLR-Lander Radio. Experience working with social media and media technology such as Adobe Suite and modern internet radio protocols is desirable.

Media and Communication has been identified as a signature program in the university’s most recent strategic plan. The department currently offers a B.S. in Media and Communication that students supplement by completing a required minor in film studies, media writing, public relations, speech and performance, or sports media. Our new B.S. in Digital Media Production launches fall 2022.

Requirements: Applicants must have earned a master’s degree or higher in a media-related field by the time of appointment. The ideal candidate will be a skilled teacher of undergraduates who possesses recent professional media experience and the ability to engage students in experiential learning. We also seek someone eager to engage in departmental, institutional, and professional service; and able to work collaboratively in a small department.

Application: Candidates should submit a cover letter explaining their qualifications and interest in the position, a current CV that includes contact information for at least three references, and unofficial transcripts for graduate coursework. Electronic submissions are highly preferred and should be addressed to Courtney Myers, Administrative Specialist for the College of Arts and Humanities, at cmyers@lander.edu . Please place “Lecturer Search, Media and Communication” in the subject line. Please address questions to this same point of contact. Review of applications will begin February 24, 2022, and continue until the position is filled.
