Job Description:

The Department of Oral Maxillofacial Sciences is recruiting for Postdoctoral Associate. This position manages the projects on the identification and roles of cytoplasmic dsRNA in pediatric Sjogren's syndrome (SS) and the efficacy of P2 receptor-targeted therapy to restore salivary glandular function in SS. The incumbent will carry out experiments by applying molecular, cellular, and immunological techniques to mouse and human specimens. This position is involved in many activities that will allow for cultural exchange among faculty, staff, students and UF Exchange Visitors.

Advertised Salary:

$49,000 - $56,000

Minimum Requirements:

Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree

Preferred Qualifications:

Immunology/Cell biology background with the following skills:
  • Mitochondrial gene, protein, and bioenergetics analysis
  • Cell culture, cloning, gene/protein analysis by RT-qPCR and western blotting
  • Immunocytochemistry, immunohistochemistry, and immunoprecipitation
  • Animal studies: Injection, SS characterization, survival or non-survival operations
  • ELISA, ELISpot, MLR, regulatory T cells and monocyte functional assay
  • Flow cytometry
Other Qualifications:
  • Be familiar with or willing to learn how to write manuscript/fellowship proposals.
  • Be familiar with or willing to learn statistical analyses or bioinformatics
  • Be willing to learn or explore a new field of study and techniques as needed.
  • Be flexible with time as animal studies may require a weekend or night shift.
  • Be willing to present the data at scientific meetings.
  • Be willing to supervise graduate, dental, and undergraduate students when needed.
