Job Summary
The Administrative Assistant in the Office of Equality and Diversity is responsible for helping to promote and support a welcoming, respectful, and safe environment and culture by assisting with administration of the office and serving as a front-line of communication with members of the University community. Successful candidates will be customer service oriented, effective at written and verbal communication, well-organized, and enjoy the opportunity to multi-task, take initiative to problem solve and to be proactive with limited supervision.
Essential Functions
- Provide administrative and clerical support to the professional staff in the Office of Equality and Diversity while complying with office procedures and confidentiality policies
- Answer incoming calls, greet visitors, and resolve issues in a courteous and timely manner
- Provide administrative and secretarial support with correspondence, reports, filing, database entry, accommodation letter renewals, and other administrative tasks
- Monitor office e-mail accounts to review and triage incident reports and ensure appropriate response
- Send correspondence to individuals requesting information or services as needed
- Maintain office records consistent with office protocols
- Maintain professional staff calendars, and schedule appointments
- Assist with OED events as needed
- Maintain an organized and professional work environment
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred but will consider equivalent experience
- 3 to 5 years of administrative experience
- Must be a team player, customer service driven, possess a strong work ethic, and have an understanding of the extreme importance of confidentiality
- Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced office environment
- Excellent telephone manner
- Must be proficient with computer software applications (Word, Excel, and database management)
- Must possess excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
- Experience in or knowledge of the disability resources field preferred
- Experience working in Higher Education or a customer service centered environment preferred
- Typically sitting at a desk/table

- Lifting demands up to 25lbs
