Position Summary
The Slippery Rock University Theatre Department is seeking motivated and experienced applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position to begin fall 2022. This position will lead the Theatre Arts Management program.

The Theatre Department at SRU is a well-established undergraduate program offering BA Theatre concentrations in Design & Technology, Acting, Theatre Arts Management, and Theatre Studies, as well as a BFA Acting (with concentrations in Musical Theatre and Acting). Our department focuses on producing contemporary and new work as well as inventive adaptations of the classics.

The candidate will be expected to assume an active role in the collaborative growth and success of the BA Theatre – Theatre Arts Management and Theatre Studies programs; actively assist in the recruitment and mentoring of students; and to advance the visibility and reputation of the department and university through professional affiliations, credentials and activities. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
Teaching responsibilities: 3-4 courses per semester. Courses may include:
Introduction to Theatre Arts Management
Studies in Audience Development
Stage Management and Safety
Survey of Dramatic Literature I & II
History of Musical Theatre
Theories of Acting and Directing
The Art of Theatre

Additional responsibilities:
Coordination of box office and front-of-house activities for a four-show mainstage season in newly renovated performing arts center spaces; training and supervision of student box office staff; participation in related professional development activities; academic advisement of department students as assigned; advisement of student stage managers; recruitment and mentorship of students; service to the department, university and profession; affiliation with relevant professional organizations (i.e. AEA, ATHE, KCACTF, NCAA, AAAE );
continuing development of the TAM curriculum. Minimum Qualifications
MFA in Arts Administration/Arts Management/Stage Management; PhD in Theater History; or terminal degree in appropriately-related Theater discipline required. Degree must be completed by August 15, 2022.
Demonstrated skills and commitment to excellence in teaching, effective collaboration, collegiality, excellent communication, and organizational skills are required and essential.
The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and to the education of diverse populations.
Successful performance in an interview, including a teaching demonstration, is required.
Two years previous experience required, either in college-level teaching and/or professional experience Preferred Qualifications
Active professional affiliations with theatre-related organizations preferred.
Experience teaching large-section general-education theatre courses such as Art of Theatre is preferred.
The ability to teach courses in an additional theatre area i.e. acting or design/technical theatre preferred.
