Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director of Housing Operations, the Assistant Director of Housing Operations/Resident Director oversees the day-to-day functions of a residential area, supervises the resident assistant staff assigned there, offers support and outreach to students within the residential area, and oversees community development and programming opportunities for residents. This position also includes assisting the direction of central office residential operations for a three-semester academic year, 2,000-bed residential campus.

Residential Life staff ensure a safe, healthy living and learning environment by coordinating and implementing a community development model and enforcing university policies. In addition, they support all functions of Residential and Commuter Life within the Center for Student Life.

This is a full-time, 12-month position, live-in position. An on-campus apartment is provided as part of this position. This position serves on the professional on-call duty rotation for Residential Life.

Responsibilities included:
  • Manage the overall operation of a residential building with 200-600 students including overseeing programming and facilities
  • Supervise student resident assistant staff within the residential area
  • Provide individualized support to residential students
  • Manage assigned residential operations functions including key management, break storage, transitional housing, housing selection support, and information technology
  • Serve as member of the department’s marketing and communications committee
  • Support the Division of Student Affairs, including the Center for Student Life, in ensuring ongoing recognition of student rights, responsibilities, and expectations by implementing campus policies and coordinating related procedures
  • Participate in 24/7/365 professional on-call duty rotations, as assigned
  • Support and advance initiatives within the Center for Student Life and the Division of Student Affairs through participation in projects and committees
