About the College/Department:
The Psychology Department (www.psychology.eku.edu) is housed in the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences. The department has 22 full-time faculty, approximately 800 undergraduate majors and 150 graduate students. The Department offers four graduate programs: the Psy.D. in clinical psychology (APA-Accredited) and Master’s degrees in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, general experimental psychology, and Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), as well as the Autism Spectrum Disorder Certificate (offered in cooperation with the Department of Occupational Therapy and Special Education and the Applied Behavior Analysis Certificate). In addition, the Department offers Bachelor’s of Science degrees in Psychology and in Animal Studies, and a certificate and minor in Veterans Studies. The Psychology Clinic offers a variety of clinical and research opportunities with adults, children, and families, including work with individuals with autism/developmental disabilities and animal-facilitated therapy. The department has a history of collaborative research with other academic departments and community agencies. Position Summary:
The Department of Psychology invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin August 15, 2022. Teaching load may include graduate courses in the Clinical Psychology Psy.D. program (e.g., psychopathology, ethics/professional standards, psychotherapy) and undergraduate courses (e.g., Abnormal Psychology). Responsibilities will also include supervising assessment and therapy cases in the department's training clinic.

Minimum Qualifications:
A doctoral degree (Ph.D./Psy.D.) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited or internationally recognized institution is required. ABD applicants will be considered and must provide evidence that all Ph.D./Psy.D. requirements will be completed by the start date. The doctoral degree is required for tenure. Candidate must be eligible to become a licensed psychologist in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The successful candidate will be expected to have (or become) a Licensed Psychologist in order to supervise assessment and therapy cases in the department’s training clinic.

Desired Qualifications:
Applicants who can help the Department in developing cross-department collaborations (e.g., partnering with languages department to develop bilingual mental health initiatives, developing programs with EKU Office of Military & Veterans Affairs and Veterans Studies) are particularly preferred.

While the specific area of research and expertise within Clinical/Counseling Psychology is open, strong preference will be given to candidates who have evidence of:

  • a strong commitment to and successful advising and teaching of psychology courses
  • experience in online teaching and assessment
  • experience in and a commitment to engaging in student mentoring and scholarly activities/research publication with student involvement
  • a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through teaching, service/mentoring, and/or research
  • a commitment to professional development in teaching experience in undergraduate and/or graduate teaching
  • licensed as a psychologist
