The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is seeking a Full-time Lecturer, Audiology Clinical Education Coordinator. This appointment will involve clinic coordination, supervision of students enrolled in the doctorate of audiology program, marketing and public relations work, and teaching at the University level. 

JOB DUTIES:

  1. Coordination of HIPAA-compliant Audiology clinic operations, including but not limited to:
    1. Oversight of clinical education and coordination of clinical instructors/supervisors and student clinical progress for the Doctor of Audiology program
    2. Coordinate program accreditation and HIPAA compliance for the Maryjane Rees Language, Speech and Hearing Center.
    3. Coordinate the on-campus Maryjane Rees Language, Speech and Hearing Center’s audiology clinic, including setup (EHR system, scheduling, purchasing, technology, equipment, materials and supplies), consultation (purchasing, construction, marketing of services), and clinic operations (client/patient recruitment/enrollment and scheduling, establishment of policies, procedures, and activities related to clinic operations and student clinical education and supervision and scheduling), and clinical education in conjunction with the Maryjane Language, Speech and Hearing Center.
  • Establish and coordinate scheduling and billing while adhering to federal and state regulations.
  • Initiate and maintain student placement agreements and act as a liaison to local professional networks in audiology and clinical placement development.
  • Didactic and clinical instruction and internship/externship liaison work, as needed.
  • Coordinate scheduling of clinical instruction and on and off-campus clinics. Coordinate scheduling of all clinical instructors, clinics, and student clinicians in the Maryjane Rees Language, Speech, and Hearing Audiology Clinic.
  • Participate in hiring and support of clinical instructors (this includes verification of updated ASHA certification and CA licenses annually), including training and support of student clinical hours data tracking.
  • Oversight of student clinical hours data tracking including verification of ASHA and licensure.
  • Provide support to students enrolled in clinical practica including tracking documentation related to AuD and undergraduate observation hours and background check documentation. AuD and undergraduate clinical assistantship hours, clinical clock hours and competencies, surveys and site demographics data, in order to ensure learning outcome assessment data for annual department reporting is available.
  • Community relations including marketing and public relations to support clinic census.
  • Support the development of sustainable funding sources, in collaboration with the Department Chair and University Advancement for the donations-only clinic.
  • Establish, monitor and track the Maryjane Rees Center Audiology Clinic budget in consultation with the Department Chair.
  • Provide supplementary clinical instruction to students enrolled in clinical practicum, including assessing and remediating disorders in audiology.
  • Clinical Education Coordinator participates in instructing students and guiding clinical instructors in the following areas:
    1. Diagnostic assessment and screening of peripheral and central auditory function, vestibular function tests, hearing aid dispensing and follow-up services, assistive technology and aural (re)habilitation, assessment and management of tinnitus, immittance/impedance tests, real ear measurements, electrophysiological measures, rotary chair testing, etc.
    2. Therapeutic intervention which involves the planning, implementation, and interprofessional evaluation and management of auditory, vestibular and other related disorders.
    3. Professional reports and records of evaluations and procedures, and results.
    4. Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) development, implementation, and tracking.
    5. Evidence based practice and department-specific professional development.
    6. Providing services to and working with diverse students and patients
  • Coordinate reception at audiology clinic desk and clinical supply room, including materials, and personnel.
  • Maintain and review the inventory of materials.
  • Interact with clients and caregivers regarding services and concerns as needed.
  • Conduct annual clinical orientations, continuing education events, and workshops.
  • Maintain and update Clinical Handbooks for students and clinical instructors.
