The Department of Biological Sciences at Kent State University is seeking applicants to fill a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. We are seeking individuals who are investigating fundamental cellular and molecular mechanisms and would complement the strengths of research in the department in the broad areas of cell biology, molecular biology, and neuroscience. Areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to, cancer, cardiovascular research, reproduction, developmental biology, stem cell biology, lipid biology, obesity, metabolism, neuroendocrinology, neurodegenerative diseases, and the animal microbiome.

Participating in two independent graduate programs, Biological Science (BSCI) and Biomedical Science (BMS) programs, the successful candidate will be expected to establish an extramurally funded research program, engage in collaborative research, direct theses and dissertations, and exhibit a commitment to excellence in teaching and student mentorship in the undergraduate and graduate programs. Qualifications include a PhD with post-doctoral experience, a strong history of recent publications in peer-reviewed journals, and the ability to envision and articulate an independent research program. Salary and startup funds are competitive and commensurate with academic qualifications and prior experience.

Kent State is the region’s first-choice public university and is the largest public multi-campus system in Ohio. The Department of Biological Sciences is the largest in the College of Arts and Sciences, with over 80 MS and PhD students, over 1200 undergraduate students, and 40 faculty. Faculty in the department have opportunity to participate in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research as a part of several newly launched institutes, including the Brain Health Research Institute (BHRI) and the Environmental Science and Design Research Institute (ESDRI).
