Assistant Professor for Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN)
The Department of German, Russian and East European Studies invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in German Studies. Position will perform significant research specializations in contemporary German cultures and literatures and will teach a broad range of courses at all levels of instruction in the Department and the Max Kade Center for European and German Studies. They will provide substantial contributions to undergraduate program development and aspire to contribute to collaborative research and teaching initiatives within and beyond the Department. Position will also specialize in a particular area, which could include transnationalism and multilingualism; migration and displacement; ecology and environmental studies; race, ethnicity, and gender studies; and comparative humanisms. The position will teach Vanderbilt courses, including but not limited to the following: GER 1111: Pioneers of Literary Modernism (First-Year Writing Seminar); GER2441: Great German Works in English; GER 3201: Advanced German: Germany Today; GER 3333: Monuments and Memory (Special Offering); GER 3851: Independent Readings; GER 4557: Topics in Genre; (GER) – Pop & Protest; GER 4548: German Lyric Poetry-Form and Function.
