Position Summary
The lab manager at the Hosseinzadeh lab at Knight Campus is a dedicated, enthusiastic, and collaborative individual with excellent organizational, managerial, and communication skills to take care of technical and business aspects of the lab on a daily basis and partake in a number of exciting new and ongoing research in the lab. The lab manager will work closely with Dr. Hosseinzadeh and other lab members to assist in different aspects of the research projects, lab administration, and lab safety. Hosseinzadeh lab works at the interface of chemistry, biology, and computer science to engineer new proteins and peptides for therapeutic, sensing, delivery, and catalysis applications. Our work is highly interdisciplinary and we use techniques from different areas of biology, chemistry, protein engineering, and synthetic biology.

The focus of this position is the development and optimization of methods for screening of designed proteins. In addition to taking care of lab administration and safety responsibilities, the candidate will be in charge of developing purification and validating screening platforms, analyzing data, preparing reports, and training other lab members.

The position reports to Assistant Professor Hosseinzadeh.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in bioengineering, biochemistry, biology, biophysics, physics, chemistry, chemical engineering or related discipline.
- One year work experience (or graduate school experience) in a research laboratory performing molecular biology techniques including cloning, PCR, gel electrophoresis, cell culture (E. coli), and DNA extractions
- One year work experience (or graduate school experience) in a research laboratory performing biochemistry techniques including protein expression and purification
Professional Competencies
- Ability to carry out and troubleshoot laboratory protocols.
- Ability to communicate effectively, in both written and oral formats.
- Ability to work both independently, in a small group setting, and one-on-one with students, other staff, and collaborators in a positive and productive manner.
- Excellent organizational skills and careful attention to details.
- High level of self-motivation and integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
One or more of the following:
- Experience with mammalian cell culture and protein expression
- Basic familiarity with bioinformatics or coding
- Experience with high throughput screening methods such as yeast or bacterial display
