Position Title Assistant Director, Rocky Mountain Industrial Assessment Center The Opportunity

Mines seeks a full-time Assistant Director to provide day-to-day administration and operations management of the newly funded Rocky Mountain Industrial Assessment Center (RMtn-IAC). This IAC is sponsored by the US Department of Energy as part of the national network of industrial assessment centers who are supported to provide no-cost energy, productivity, and waste assessments of manufacturers and commercial buildings. RMtn-IAC has been commissioned to perform assessments of small and medium manufacturers and commercial buildings in the Rocky Mountain region. The individual will work closely and collaboratively with participating faculty and students to plan, direct, organize and execute project requirements; identify and acquire necessary resources and coordinate efforts by all parties to ensure timely delivery of project outcomes in accordance with federal state regulations and policies, and the sponsoring source’s expectations. This position has room for growth in responsibility with respect to recruiting clients for assessments and teaching classes on energy assessment.

Responsibilities

• Lead undergraduate and graduate students, provide direction for scope of work, and assign duties while at client's site during assessment operations
• Assign work assignments for each assessment report and provide guidance to students in completing assignments
• Supervise students associated with IAC activities, including directing their training necessary to participate in assessments
• Complete and prepare reports for IAC Director in a timely manner for review before DOE submission
• Direct the submission of required content to the nationwide database administered by Rutgers University and follow-up implementation reports
• Contact manufacturers after assessment report has been received and report on progress by clients in implementing assessment recommendations included in each report
• Assist in scheduling IAC assessments
• Assist in recruit clients for IAC assessments in Colorado and New Mexico and coordinate assessment visits
• Maintain and as needed update inventory of analytical equipment used in energy assessments
• Maintain the IAC website and LinkedIn page
• Assist with project planning, including the following:

1) Recruit, select, and train undergraduate and graduate students to work for the program
2) Publish technical reports and papers as appropriate
3) Prepare proposals for additional projects as appropriate to support the mission of the IAC
4) Providing strategic guidance and direction for the IAC
5) Teach an energy assessment class

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 5 years relevant experience including some project management and any combination of experience and /or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters of Science degree in an engineering or related discipline
• Experience working with energy efficiency, manufacturing, industrial productivity, and/or waste management (including water) in industrial or commercial environments
• Demonstrated evidence of effective communication skills
• Demonstrated evidence of organizational skills
• Experience meeting deadlines, prioritizing and managing time sensitive projects
• Experience in problem solving and critical thinking
• Supervisory experience

Pay Range

$65,600 - $79,300
