The position will provide registration and bursar-related requirements to the College of Professional Studies Executive Education Office, Syracuse University faculty, staff, and educational partners for the College of Professional Studies noncredit programs. Responsibilities also include but are not limited to support and instruction regarding registration and bursar-related processes and procedures for new, current, and potential noncredit students as well as maintain academic records and financial accounts of assigned student populations. Qualifications
  • Two-year associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience along with two (2) plus years of customer service experience are required.
  • Candidate must be proficient in keyboarding and have Office 365 experience, including word and excel.
  • PeopleSoft student records/student financials experience a definite plus.
  • Must be detail oriented, attentive, and able to multitask.
  • Must possess the ability to stay calm under pressure.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Exemplary customer service experience is required.
  • Financial collections experience a plus.
  • The successful candidate must be able to empathize with people and situations while maintaining a level of professionalism and control of the situation.
  • The successful candidate must possess critical thinking skills with strong decision making and analytical abilities.
Responsibilities
  • Direct new and current noncredit students through the College of Professional Studies Online Non-Credit Registration process and assist in areas where students experience limitations and barriers.
  • Troubleshoot and solve registration and bursar issues that result in student ineligibility to register due to technology issues and financial holds.
  • Coordinate communications necessary to assist the student to a successful registration. Process registrations for students who enroll through our educational partners and through a means other than our online system.
  • Assist in creating/revising associated process documentation, assist with training and other student and academic tasks, shifting responsibilities depending on the needs of the office.
  • Review registrations of international non-credit students using the Visual Compliance Database.
  • Provide exemplary customer service to Syracuse University College of Professional Studies part-time undergraduates, online, non-matriculated and non-credit students to make the overall University experience pleasant and rewarding via phone, in-person, email, remote, and online chat.
  • Advise non-credit students, educational partners, corporate entities, and other University departments of specific University policies and procedures related to the College of Professional Studies registration and payment to assist students in making informed decisions and avoid future issues.
  • Create new non-credit students and manage the biographic and academic records of all current UC non-credit students.
  • Determine legitimacy of student and college records, coordinate necessary changes to academic record with other departments across campus.
  • Update biographic, academic, and financial information that falls under the College of Professional Studies jurisdiction.
  • Monitor and maintain UC non-credit student financial records.
  • Act as liaison for students with other SU departments and educational partners to resolve billing concerns.
  • Initiate payment arrangements, determine tuition charges, monitor accounts and process payments. Determine student eligibility for refunds.
  • Assist students in determining best payment options available to them and update student financial record to reflect selected option.
  • Reconcile student accounts, and monitor for timely payments throughout the semester.
  • Contact students who are late on accounts and counsel on positive payment schedules including authorizing special payment arrangements.
  • Manage the financial holds associated with the student’s ability to register and receive transcripts, diploma/certificate.
  • Analyze past due accounts and exhaust methods available to receive payment.
  • Determine accounts as uncollectable and transfer to Student Debt Management Office for further collection.
