The School of Art in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University seeks a full-time, 9-month (academic year) Instructor in the Art History program beginning August 2022. This position will serve online and/or in-person undergraduate students.

The School of Art in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University prepares students for the creative and critical challenges of the global 21st century. The School of Art seeks a candidate with a rich and varied skill set in the field of Art History. The successful candidate will have knowledge of the broad spectrum of art history and expertise in their specific area of interest. The successful candidate will teach upper and lower division undergraduate lecture courses online and in person. The successful candidate will work with a diverse student population and will communicate to students their progress while recognizing their diversified backgrounds. Required Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Philosophy degree preferred (ABD considered), or related terminal degree, or MA in Art History
  • Demonstrated evidence of commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching with at least three years of experience teaching Art History in higher education

Desired Qualifications:

  • The ability to teach in all modalities (in-person, hybrid, and online)
  • The ability to teach all levels (upper-division and lower-division) of undergraduate courses

Application Deadline:
