Sri L. V. Prasad (producer, actor, director, cinematographer and recipient of Dadasaheb Phalke Award) dreamed of creating a film academy in the 1950s. His son, Sri Ramesh Prasad manifested the dream in 2005. Since then, hundreds of aspiring filmmakers have graduated from the L. V. Prasad Film and Television Academy (LVPA) and found success in the Indian film industry.

LVPA is part of Prasad Group, Asia’s largest provider of post-production services.

The Dean of Academics is responsible for the overall management of LVPA’s curricular programming, in accordance with the Academy’s mission, and in support of the institution’s strategic plan.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee program schedules, syllabi, program descriptions, and assign faculty to courses.
  • Collaborate with the Registrar and Director and/or Director of Academics regarding the administration of the academic calendar.
  • Engage with external partners, colleagues, alumni and industry professionals in an effort to continuously raise the profile of the Academy and facilitate professional opportunities for students and graduates.
  • Manage teaching and part-time/guest faculty.
  • Recruit and develop faculty; conduct performance evaluations and make recommendations about teaching contracts.
  • Manage and oversee academic and administrative operations.
  • Foster an environment of professionalism and collegiality.
  • Collaborate with the Director on the development of the annual budget and monitor ongoing expenditures within approved categories and limits.
  • Participate in professional organizations at state and national levels.
  • Advise and mentor students.

  • Any other duties as assigned from time to time by the Management.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Terminal degree (Indian or international) in Cinema/Film or allied disciplines.
  • Relevant professional experience in increasing leadership roles.
  • Extensive familiarity with the history of film and filmmaking as an artistic form and medium of communication.
  • Substantial professional experience in film or a closely-related field.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching courses in film.
  • A collegial management style and a history of collaboration with peers.
  • Prior supervisory experience, preferably in an educational environment
  • Ten or more years of progressively responsible experience in higher education, preferably at the level of chair, HOD, or assistant dean.
