Career Counselor/Employment Coordinator

 

Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for a Career Counselor/Employment Coordinator to join the Career Services team. This position provides Career Development Counseling to students and alumni.

Duties will include, but are not limited to: provides personal Career Development Counseling to students and alumni including career assessment testing and interpretation, major consultation, professional development, job skills coaching, cover letter/resume/CV development, job networking skills, job search strategies, graduate school planning, and interviewing skills; conducts career counseling sessions by appointment, including career assessment testing and interpretation, and major consultation with students and alumni as needed; provides current and relevant career education in the form of online and printed resources, class presentations, workshops, seminars and other presentations and programs; represents Coastal Carolina University Career Services Center and assists in the planning and implementation of large Career Services programs for university-wide events such as orientation, admissions events, faculty orientation, FYE presentations/events, career/job information tables, career fairs, etc.;  provides professional assistance for students and alumni in locating potential post graduate employment and service opportunities locally, regionally and nationally, and facilitates their access through networking, information sharing and professional development programs and resources in collaboration with university, alumni and employer partners; supervises student staff as needed; assists in Career Services planning, program evaluation and career-related outcomes research in partnership with alumni affairs, institutional research, academic departments and other university areas; and perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications: A master’s degree in Counseling, Human Resources, Student Personnel Administration or a closely related field and one (1) year of related experience are required.  Experience in Career Services in a college or university working with career assessment instruments, advising students on career goals and job search strategies, and facilitating placement of graduates in jobs and other work experiences is preferred.  Three (3) years of related experience is preferred.

Student Services Program Coordinator II (CB70/121532/FTE-S00540P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 05.  Minimum starting salary is $34,331.00.  Salary will be contingent upon relevant education and experience. Normal work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Must be flexible to meet special scheduling needs of the University.  Some overnight and/or local travel may be required.
