The Opportunity:

The College Brand Manager will lead and execute the strategic direction, vision, and creative standards for college-specific communications and marketing efforts that also support the university’s broader goals. The College Brand Manager reports to the Director of Operations Support within the SVP & COO division and serves as the colleges’ primary communications/marketing manager. The College Brand Manager works directly with deans, associate/assistant deans, and others in various college units for the colleges’ communications and marketing efforts. This will be an on campus role, but can work at either our Daytona Beach, FL Campus or our Prescott, AZ Campus.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Communications and Marketing Leadership
  • Works directly with school leadership to develop marketing and communication initiatives, ensuring that these efforts not only contribute to the success of each College at Embry-Riddle, but are also aligned with the strategic vision and distinctive brand of the University.
  • Develops a robust and data-driven understanding of the Colleges’ target audiences and influencers that is relative to the attitudes, opinions, and behaviors that drive levels of positive engagement and revenue impact by core stakeholders.
  • Creates marketing and communications programs and initiatives to address short- and long-term opportunities and needs, within specified timelines, and within available college resources.
  • Utilizes a broad set of channels - including email, social media, digital and print advertising, conferences, and other direct marketing - to design and execute strategies and data-informed tactics that increase brand awareness not related to enrollment marketing.
Brand Identity
  • Supports the development of a design theme and tone for the Colleges’ publications, annual report, and other college and school publications related to major initiatives.
  • Works in concert with Creative Strategy & Brand Management team to develop a suite of template products to provide to the Colleges to implement a consistent brand.
Multi-Platform Writing and Coordination
  • Writes original material for publication via articles, reports, newsletters, promotional pieces, etc.
  • Writes or edits all high-profile content and pieces for style as well as tone and structure.
  • Confers with the dean, program coordinators, faculty and staff regarding articles, reports, newsletters, promotional pieces, etc.
  • Collaborates with the News, Development, Multimedia, Social Media, and Web teams to provide newsworthy information for distribution across appropriate channels.
Management & Supervision
  • Develops project budgets including personnel, production, vendor/freelance, and equipment costs as needed.
  • Manages all critical projects and leads or supervises project teams responsible for wide-reaching impact or high-profile assignments in support of the Colleges.
  • Establishes and oversees project timelines.
Qualifications

Required Abilities and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a communications field such as public relations, communications, marketing or other related areas.
  • Five years of progressively responsible relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Relevant experience in multiple specialty areas; ability to work collaboratively with other communications professionals including writers, editors, print designers, web designers/developers, photographers, videographers, and video production professionals.
  • Exceptional and visionary leadership and management skills with the ability to bring together broad constituencies to build collaboration, teamwork, and synergies.
  • Exceptionally strong oral and written communications skills, including editing and writing experience across long- and short-form print, web, video, and social media pieces and other platforms.
  • Strong project management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • High-level understanding of and experience with communications strategy and branding, especially as they relate to higher education.
  • Great project management skills to direct and guide colleagues in a fast-paced environment with simultaneous complex projects and multiple deadlines to deliver excellence on time.
  • Significant experience working on a wide variety of communications projects including digital and print magazines and newsletters, and website development.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard publishing tools such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Dreamweaver, Microsoft Office suite, Wordpress, etc.
  • Proficiency to direct vendors, including printers, writers, photographers, media buyers, and multi-media teams.
Preferred Abilities and Experience:
  • Master's degree in a communications field such as public relations, marketing or other related areas.
  • Expertise in multiple specialty communications areas (design, writing, marketing, communications strategy, branding, etc.).
  • Experience conducting communications and marketing work at an institution of higher education.
