Position Description

The Connecticut Institute of Technology (CIT) at the University of New Haven invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position in the areas of electrical power engineering and energy. The expected starting data is August 2022.

 

CIT houses multiple degrees in CS/ECE/Data Science at both the BS and MS levels and also participates in the PhD program in Engineering and Applied Science. The University of New Haven has been recognized by the NSA as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Operations (CAE-CO), one of only 22 universities in the United States to receive this prestigious designation. The university has made cybersecurity a top priority in its centennial fundraising challenge with the slogan of "Securing Our Future".

 

We are looking for energetic faculty members who want to continue building our national and international reputation.

 

Expectations

  • Ability to teach hands-on courses in the areas of power systems, renewable energy, and control systems.
  • Develop a research program that complements existing activities in the department and college in power systems, power electronics, or other relevant areas, while engaging graduate and undergraduate students. Produce scholarly publications and write grant proposals to establish funded research. Opportunities for research collaboration exist within the college and across the university. Existing faculty already have funded projects from NSA, NSF, DHS, ONR.
  • Engage in service at the program, professional, departmental, college and university levels in various working groups and committees. Other duties may include working with organizations to secure industry-sponsored projects and outreach/recruitment.

 

Qualifications

  • D. in electrical/computer engineering with a specialization in the areas of power systems, power electronics, smart grids, grid security, and related emerging technologies. Strong interest in distributed and renewable generation and sustainable systems is a plus. Candidates must have demonstrated plans for the development of research programs in power electronics and power systems or related fields. Evidence of potential for excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels is also required. Candidates must have strong communication and interpersonal skills and commitment to collegiality and teamwork.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
