SYSTEMS ENGINEER – TECHNOLOGY SERVICES

 

Randolph-Macon College, is currently seeking a systems engineer to provide technology support services in an academic environment.  The primary focus for this position is configuring, installing and maintaining college technology including, but not limited to: computers in classrooms, laboratories, and meeting spaces; projectors; TVs; printers; lab instruments; and desktop software.  Successful candidates will be able to show their ability and relevant experience for the following:  ability to manage and prioritize task assignments, installation and support technology used in classrooms, labs, and conference rooms; research and conduct hardware and software troubleshooting; and the ability to assist faculty and staff in the use of technology. Experience with systems used to patch and monitor the performance of endpoints/devices, automate software installations, image computers, monitoring malware prevention systems, and scanner/printer management is highly desired. 

 

Qualifications:  Prefer candidates with a minimum of two years of work experience in an end user computer and software installation, maintenance and support role.  B.S. degree in Computer Science or related area required. A combination of relevant education and work experience may be considered for the degree requirement.  This position requires the use of a personal vehicle and current driver’s license.  Candidates must be capable of routinely lifting between 35-45 pounds and willing to climb ladders and scaffolding up to 25 feet high. The job requires the ability to push loaded equipment carts weighing up to 150 pounds.  The normal workweek is 37.5 hours, but this position may require an alternate work schedule to accommodate coverage requirements.  Employees in this position will be expected to work weekends and evenings to provide technology support from time to time.  This position also includes an on-call rotation requirement.
