The New School seeks a dedicated professional to serve as a Development Associate for the Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving Programs (AEAGP) team within Development & Alumni Engagement (DAE). Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving, the Associate provides administrative and project management support to the AVP and assumes similar responsibility for the full AEAG team as needed. This multifaceted position necessitates collaboration with all teams throughout DAE and several other key partners across the university, and entails much communication with external constituents, especially TNS alumni.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as data manager for all AEAG engagement and cultivation correspondence, contact reports, and other similar initiatives to document activity and appropriate data within the DAE database(s).
  • Manage expense reports for the AEAG team and provide AVP and others with quarterly budget reports.
  • Participate in planning and executing creative strategies for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding alumni, parents and friends in partnership with AEAG colleagues.
  • Review monthly press clippings and other relevant media sources to track alumni achievements and to record and recognize awards, announcements, and meaningful news through notes of congratulations from TNS leaders and appropriate documentation within database(s).
  • Manage the AEAG production calendar to ensure all communications, fundraising, and event project milestones are noted.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, presentations, and special reports for AVP, university leadership, volunteer boards, and internal meetings.
  • Provide exceptional calendar management to AVP including scheduling numerous meetings and arranging domestic and international travel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years working in alumni relations, development, or marketing, preferably at a university or cultural institution.
  • Proven experience managing complex projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of Google Suite, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with HTML, digital design, email service providers.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication.
  • Exercises good judgment and discretion with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong database knowledge
  • Ability to adhere to university COVID-19 policy and requirements
