Job Description:

The University of Florida Health Cancer Center (UFHCC) invites applications for established and motivated cancer researchers at all stages of career development to complement the cancer research programs of the center and across the six colleges of the UF Health Science Center (Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health and Health Professions, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine), and within colleges outside of the Health Science Center, including Health and Human Performance, Agricultural and Life Sciences, Engineering, Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Journalism and Communication.

Applications are welcome from cancer researchers in accordance with the priorities of the UFHCC strategic plan in support of the three research programs, current recruitment efforts are focusing on:

  1. The Cancer Population Sciences program, with emphasis on cancer epidemiology, cancer communications and outreach, implementation sciences and health services research.
  2. The Mechanisms of Oncogenesis program, with an emphasis on DNA damage and repair;
  3. The Cancer Therapeutics and Host Response program, with a focus on immunotherapy and the role of the microbiota in cancer,
  4. Biostatistics, bioinformatics, and biomedical informatics in support of the research infrastructure of the center.


Strong emphasis will be placed on hiring early-stage investigators, increasing the diversity of our faculty, and providing opportunities for medical, surgical and radiation oncologists to participate in cancer clinical research initiatives. Research programs in these areas with potential translation into diagnostic or therapeutic strategies are encouraged.

Faculty with professional (MD, DDS, DVM, PharmD, DNP) and/or PhD degrees at Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank are encouraged to apply. The preferred candidate is an established tenured or tenure-track investigator with a national reputation in scholarship, track record of independent research funding, and the desire to build a research and training program in cancer biology, cancer therapeutics, or cancer epidemiology and control. Experience in research programs leadership and administration, research education and training, and technology transfer is desirable. Promising new investigators holding K99/R00 awards are also invited to apply. Opportunities for clinical practice are available through our Health Science Center Colleges. The appointment may involve an administrative assignment with the UFHCC.

This is a cancer program involving ten of the sixteen colleges of UF. Academic appointment will be in the appropriate College and Department. Academic rank and track status will be commensurate with experience and accomplishment. Compensation includes an excellent benefits package.
