POSITION TITLE: Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in School Psychology

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:

For candidates ready to take their careers and knowledge to the next level, California State University, Sacramento (CSUS; “Sacramento State”) has a graduate-level education program to meet their needs. We offer programs in a variety of specialties and learning approaches, from hands-on credential learning to fully online programs. Our graduate degrees and certifications provide candidates with advanced study in education, mental health, and community engagement. POSITION DETAILS:

Tenure-Track, at rank of Assistant Professor. Salary is negotiable based on professional experiences and qualifications.

DUTIES:

Duties include teaching school psychology courses in a NASP-approved School Psychology credential program that leads to a Master of Arts (M.A.) in School Psychology and a Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) School Psychology degrees. The assignment also involves providing field and research supervision for students; Ed.S. thesis and project advising; and general advising of both current and prospective students. Courses taught may include alternative assessment, assessment of low incidence disabilities, human development, single case design for academic interventions, and learning theory. Credential courses may meet in the late afternoon, or during evening hours. Responsibilities also include participation in university service, scholarly activity, and involvement in community service. All faculty members embrace the mission of the California State University. Our students are diverse and represent many different linguistic, cultural, and ethnic populations that have been historically underrepresented in both undergraduate and graduate education. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Earned Doctorate or comparable experience and degree (Ed.S.) in School Psychology or related field. Degree requirements must be completed by the start of Fall 2022 semester.
  • Eligibility for NCSP and California School Psychologist Credential.
  • Experience working as a school psychologist in a public school setting.
  • Specialized knowledge related to working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
  • Commitment to helping students learn how to support inclusive learning environments for California's public school students.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Teaching at the university level with diverse populations.
  • Specialized knowledge related to anti-racism, psychoeducational assessment; human development; learning theory; the ability to supervise counseling practicums; alternative assessment procedures and the ability to supervise bilingual assessment practicums.
