About the Opportunity:
Responsible for leading and influencing HR activities within scope in terms of talent assessment, performance management, and development of employees and teams. Acts as broker and conduit for HR services (talent acquisition, compensation, learning and training etc.), and partners with HR Centers of Excellence colleagues to meet the needs of the organizations they support. Serves as the HR consultant on Employee relations matters within scope including interpretation of policy and practice, by applying HR best practices and ensuring compliance with university policy and practice, as well as employment and labor law.

Responsibilities:
  • Delivers HR programs and priorities within scope; collaborates with HR colleagues on common and core programs to provide consistency and continuous improvement to HR practices and programs
  • Provides consultation to client groups on a broad range of human resources and talent management activities to include org design, staffing, employee and team development etc. Works with clients to help them meet their organizational needs and leverages other HR COE functions effectively.
  • Provides support on employee relations issues to ensure practices are consistent. (E.g. separation agreement strategies, progressive discipline strategies, etc.).
  • Anticipates issues and proactively works with clients and HR colleagues to identify solutions.
  • Ensures that actions follow University and HRM policies as well as applicable state and federal employment and labor laws.
  • Anticipates issues and formulates effective collaboration decisions/action plans that minimize negative impacts.

  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelors' Degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years + of broad HR Practitioner experience within complex organizations. Proven ability to establish credibility, build relationships and act as a strategic partner to clients.
  • Experience in strategic workforce planning, assessment and analysis of talent and teams.
  • Excellent consultative and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with process and data to continuously improve service.
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable state and federal employment and labor laws and governmental compliance requirements.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills with an emphasis on expressing clear, concise and tactful information.
  • Must effectively represent the University to diverse audiences.
  • Considerable knowledge of state and federal employment and labor laws and University/HRM policies and practices.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and influence and coach at appropriate levels.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated high level of initiative and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong project management, organizational and time management skills.
