DIRECT REPORTS: Workstudy Student(s)

Responsibilities related to Coordinator of Service Learning position:

The Coordinator will be the first line of contact with the site supervisors at our partnering agencies, and will support those partnerships, by engaging in community initiatives, and special projects. The Coordinator will also be the contact person for students participating in their service learning assignment.

Duties: Include, but are not limited to the following

  • Meet with community partners to ensure we are meeting the mutually agreed upon terms (of the Memorandum of Understanding, MOU)
  • Meet with community partners to assist with planning and implementing projects, and services that are vital to the success of the agencies, and it's members
  • Assist with planning and implementation of campus-wide events that contribute to the sustainability of the communities we serve
  • Prepare and monitor student time-sheets
  • Develop and maintain a database of service learning students and partner sites, and placements each semester.
  • Conduct multiple site visits each semester
  • Conduct information and orientation sessions for all students registered for a service learning class.
  • Electronically deliver assessment tools to agencies and students for evaluation
  • Participate in open houses, Daemen Visit Days (tabeling)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree with experience in community engagement; Master's degree preferred
  • Experience working in diverse communities
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a diverse population
  • Effective communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Requisite computer skills

 

Requirements:

  • A valid N.Y. State Driver License & vehicle to get to community sites. Candidates for this position will be subject to a background check and a review of Motor Vehicle history

BENEFITS: This is a full-time, 12 month, hourly (non-exempt) position. Pay is competitive and includes full College benefits.

Benefits are available the first of the month following the full-time employee's date of hire and include health, dental, vision insurance, and fully paid life insurance. In addition, we offer fully paid long term disability insurance after 3 months of employment. Eligibility for the 403b retirement plan is available to full-time employees upon hire and an 8% employer match after one year of service. Tuition waiver benefits are also available for full-time employees and their qualified dependents.

Standard Background Check Required.

General Physical Requirements: Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; desk job with majority of sedentary work sitting roughly 50% or greater of the workday.

Working Conditions: Climate controlled office setting, but some activities/ duties can occur both inside and outside the office setting.

Post-Hire Trainings: Various trainings assigned upon hire and annually thereafter by the Office of Employee Engagement.
