Position Summary

The Coordinator for Student Engagement and High Impact Practices is a member of the Leadership Team within the Office of Residence Life, reporting to the Director of Residence Life. The Coordinator will work closely with the Residence Life Leadership Team to provide support for the Office of Residence Life’s ( ORL ) Diversity and Inclusion efforts and oversee and coordinate initiatives and programmatic efforts designed to increase student engagement and success at UWL . The Coordinator works with faculty, staff, and students to coordinate high-impact practices within the residence halls that contribute to student success and retention. In addition to primary job responsibilities, the coordinator will provide support for services, goals, and operations within the Department of Residence Life.

This position has a target salary offer of $45,000. In addition, this position’s benefits equate to more than 40% of the salary. Relocation assistance is also available, consistent with university policy.

Description of College / Department / Program / Division / Unit

The Division of Student Affairs’ role is to enhance and support students learning experience here at UWL . We work closely with faculty, staff, community members, alumni and most importantly, students to provide quality programs and services which promote learning, leadership, involvement, service, and the celebration of diversity. The Division includes several departments: Campus Child Center, Counseling and Testing, Student Health Center, Intercollegiate Athletics, Recreational Sports, Residence Life, Student Life, University Centers, and the Vice Chancellor & Dean of Students office. The staff of the Division is truly student-centered and concerned about the holistic development of the student.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field.
• Prior full time residence life experience.
• Knowledge of and prior experience in social justice, equity, and inclusion work.
• Knowledge of and prior experience in academic engagement work.
• Demonstrated commitment to social justice, diversity, and inclusion.
• Demonstrated commitment to the first-year experience.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other offices and departments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience working with curriculum development models.
• Experience in social justice training and facilitation.
• Prior knowledge and experience of high impact learning practices that may include learning communities, freshmen interest groups, thematic communities, University/community partnerships, faculty friend programs, etc.
• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Demonstrated organization and planning skills.

• Work closely with the Residence Life Leadership Team to coordinate department assessment initiatives.
• Analyze data from various departmental and University assessment tools and share data within ORL and with necessary campus partners.
• Determine relevant data to be used in marketing and education efforts.
• Lead departmental work on annual reporting for Division of Student Affairs
• Manage Skyfactor Survey implementation, including training and collaboration for hall staff.
• Serve as first point of contact and facilitator for all other Residence Life assessment initiatives.

Coordinate High Impact Practices and Academic Engagement

Duties to Support Responsibility

• Build and maintain partnerships with the campus partners, the Provost and other academic departments. Collaborate with these entities to co-coordinate high impact practices.
• Represent Residence Life on campus committees related to High Impact Practices.
• Design and implement marketing for high impact practices to campus / academic partners to increase knowledge, outreach and effectiveness.
• Oversee all planning, recruitment, and programming initiatives for current and future Living Learning Communities; work with and meet LLC campus partners.
• Research, develop and maintain curriculum for high impact practices and Living Learning Communities; focusing on first year student impact.
• Train in-hall staff on mission, philosophy and curriculum of high-impact practices.
• Work closely with Senior Coordinator of Occupancy and Outreach to establish occupancy and placement needs of high impact practices, including determining how students are recruited, admitted and assigned to specialty communities.
• Develop Faculty Engagement initiatives such as a Faculty Fellow or “in-residence” program.
• Lead Navigate (student tracking system) efforts for the department of Residence Life as determined by Academic Affairs.
