Position Summary

The Application Support Specialist will serve as a member of the SDM /IT Application Services team which is the application user support team providing technical support to students, faculty and staff at the UB School of Dental Medicine.

The Application Support Analyst works to become an in-house subject matter expert for the applications assigned to the team and fosters congeniality with OIR teams to support projects that optimize workflows. The ideal candidate will showcase flexibility and a willingness to learn and assist with projects to modify the system to meet the needs of SDM . Furthermore, the Applications Support Analyst will directly support faculty/staff/students with services provided in the OIR service catalogue.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist with ongoing support and build of clinical, educational, administrative and research applications. Analyze and test applications to support clinical, educational, administrative and research activities of SDM . Respond to customer/colleague questions regarding programs and applications and escalate if needed.

Work with the SDM teams to implement and document configuration change strategy to ensure changes are planned with a testing strategy. Assist the team in the implementation, documentation and development of a maintenance plan under the direction of the supervisor.

Support users of assigned applications by providing consultation of the product and how best to incorporate/adjust business processes to align with system capabilities. Act as a liaison between users and the vendor to resolve issues.

Work closely with internal technical support groups to ensure application issues or bugs are addressed in a timely fashion and in accordance with technical constraints and customer expectations. Act as the in-house escalation path for SDM application users and other activities as directed by supervisor.

As part of the Development team, assist in research/recommend/implement development methodology standards and best practices to allow for prompt response to business requirements.

Assist with Analyzing, designing and testing applications to support clinical, educational, administrative and research activities of the School of Dental Medicine.

Assist in understanding, articulating, analyzing and implementing the practices, processes and policies by which offices we support conduct their business.

Responsibilities will include:

· Customer Service – Primary in-person escalation path for priority SDM support requests related to applications.
· Application Support – Primary in-person support for application components of systems, escalate as needed and as directed by the supervisor
· Operations Support – ApplicationAccess set up, System Down messaging and as directed by the Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate Degree with strong verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail. Experience with office computing using MS Windows and Office products.
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Computer Science/Math/related field and/or experience with Dentistry from private practice or other Dentistry-related business concern with an interest or experience with digital imaging and application support.
