About Salve Regina University:

Salve Regina University, ranked as one of the most transformative colleges in the United States by Money Magazine, is a comprehensive Catholic University located in the scenic coastal community of Newport, Rhode Island. The University's commitment to academic success and personal discovery extends beyond its historic campus into a dynamic world where the application of higher thinking and skill are most valued. Salve Regina offers bachelor's and master's degree programs, graduate certificates, and doctoral programs in humanities, international relations and nursing. Enrollment includes more than 2,600 undergraduate and graduate students from across the U.S. and around the world.

With approximately 100 majors and minors, the Department of Music, Theatre and Dance contributes vibrantly to the Salve Regina academic and cultural landscape. Students perform at the historic Casino Theatre, Megley Blackbox Theatre and non-traditional performance spaces around campus.

The Casino Theatre was designed by McKim, Mead and White, the premier architectural firm of the late 19th and early 20th century, and opened in 1880 as both a 500-capacity removable seat theater and a ballroom for dances. While structural concerns forced its closure in the 1980s, the Casino Theatre underwent a complete restoration in 2009 through a creative partnership between Salve Regina and the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Now fully restored to its 19th-century grandeur, the theater provides a unique backdrop for students to gain real-world experience in performance, directing, set design, lighting and facility management.
