Clinical Coordinator, Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Job Summary:
Provides instruction, support services, coordinating, planning, and scheduling of clinical rotations for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
This is a 12-month contract with a minimum course load of 36 contact hours annually.


Essential Functions:
  1. Designs and delivers effective instruction as assigned through traditional, online, and hybrid formats, using course outlines approved by the College Curriculum Council.
  2. Advises students within academic discipline and holds posted office hours, as required by the faculty contract.
  3. Delivers supplemental instruction, as assigned.
  4. In collaboration with departmental colleagues, designs/selects and implements appropriate assessment of student learning at the course and program level.
  5. Submits contract, grades, attendance reports, and other required paperwork within prescribed timelines.
  6. Attends departmental, divisional, and college-wide meetings.
  7. Collaborates with academic administration in conducting program reviews and other institutional activities intended to promote continuous improvement in teaching and learning, including periodic curriculum reviews.
  8. Effectively integrates the use of instructional technology in instruction, when appropriate.
  9. Remains current in the discipline taught as well as in current trends in teaching methodologies.
  10. Participates in graduation exercises.
  11. Contributes positively to collegial decision-making and climate within the College’s academic community.
  12. Maintains the highest ethical standards in relationships with constituencies, research activities, and all business dealings with and on behalf of the College.


SONOGRAPHY CLINCAL COORDINATOR JOB DUTIES:

  1. Provide direct clinical and technical coordination of college-sponsored diagnostic medical sonography program.
  2. Serve as a liaison between the clinical affiliates and the College.
  3. Ensure compliance with accrediting guidelines and standards with JRCDMS and CAAHEP.
  4. Conducts prescribed interval/category/skill evaluations utilizing the CAAHEP developed Competency-based Clinical Education Program.
  5. Assigns student clinical and intra-clinical rotations.
  6. Documents student’s clinical attendance.
  7. Documents clinical performance, conducting interval and final conferences with individual students for each clinical rotation.
  8. Provides student guidance as it applies to clinical practicum.
  9. Provides indirect technical supervision of sonography students.
  10. Orients clinical instructors to sonography program philosophy and mission and their responsibility for student supervision.
  11. Facilitates student evaluation of clinical instructors and clinical facilities.
  12. Coordinates satisfactory accomplishment of academic program objectives and compliance with departmental/hospital policies and procedures.
  13. Schedules student evaluations of lab performance and schedules models for scanning labs.
  14. Ensures that properly credentialed clinical instructors sign off on all clinical competencies.
  15. Coordinates clinical education with didactic education as assigned by the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program Chair.


Other Duties:
Preforms other duties as assigned.

Accountabilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Dean of Health Sciences, lecturers are responsible for providing quality instruction and academic support services. Interacts with Registrar, Financial Aid, and other college personnel to promote and achieve student success.



Job Specifications:
The qualified candidate must be credentialed by American Registry of Diagnostic Sonography (ARDMS) in general and obstetrical specialties. Associate degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography required, Bachelor’s degree preferred. The equivalent of at least two (2) years of full-time experience as an imaging technologist required. Classroom teaching experience preferred. This is a 12-month contract with a minimum course load of 36 contact hours annually. Workload to be spread between Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters as assigned.
