Job Summary
Under general supervision of the Catering Director, this position provides services to catered events such as breakfasts, luncheons, dinners and bar service for 20/20 Catering units, which includes UWM Campus and Off Campus sites such as Hefter Center, Zilber School of Public Health, Great Lakes Research Facility, Alumni House, Innovation Campus- Wauwatosa and various on and off campus catering sites both indoors and outdoors. The incumbent will lead catered events in the absence of an on-site supervisor, provide guidance and direction to part-time catering employees, purchase and order food and supplies for catered events, as well as maintain purchase order information. The incumbent will also coordinate scheduling for dish caterers as well as tend to the other needs and special orders. This position may require night and weekend hours and will require the ability to bend, stoop and lift 50 pounds and climb stairs over the course of a catering service.

These positions are full-time, nine (9) month seasonal appointments, concurrent with the academic year. These seasonal appointments will have the following unpaid work breaks upon the conclusion of Fall and Spring semesters: Summer Break May to August Winterim Break December to January.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Customer service experience
  • Experience in catering, event planning or event supervision in one or more of the following: banquets, buffets, dinners, luncheons, receptions, bar service



  • Supervisory or leadworker experience, including staff hiring and training, in a food retail environment


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Bachelor’s Degree - OR - Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts, Culinary Management or related food service field of study obtained before start of employment
  • Experience with computerized food ordering, inventory and billing systems such as CBORD Food Service Suite (FSS) and Event Management System (EMS) or similar
  • ServSafe Food Handler or similar certification
  • ServSafe Alcohol or similar certification
