Job Description:

Reporting to the Director, Bookstore and Post Office, the Post Office Coordinator is responsible for the operations that include but are not limited to: the supervision of personnel, review and maintenance of software, hardware computer systems, equipment and mail distribution processes in accordance with US Post Office regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Train and cross-train full and part time personnel. Direct employees with regard to the "priority" of different mail categories.
  • Responsible for the receipt and distribution of incoming mail, interdepartmental mail, campus mail and Special Delivery and Express Mail. Oversee: the sorting of mail to post office boxes and departments for delivery; recording express, registered, certified and insured mail and the creation/sorting/distribution of package slips for parcel post to students and faculty.
  • Prepare outgoing mail with proper postage metered through the U.S. Postal Service and charge back to proper department. Complete end of month journal entries for postal usage; make daily deposits according to USPS regulations; schedule help according to various needs within the department.
  • Supervise of staff and work study students, including hiring/firing, promotions and disciplinary action in accordance with College's policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a current, working knowledge of postal rules, regulations and compliance.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail essential.
  • Routine duties delivering, sorting or handling mail, involving the use of a number of procedures and the application of clearly established standard practices.
  • Under general supervision, where standard practice allows one to perform regular duties, referring questionable duties to supervisor.


This position is 8:00am-4:30pm, 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year and is coupled with our comprehensive benefits package.

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Accuracy and attention to detail

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds individually and 100 pounds with assistance.

Additional Information:

This position is classified as non-exempt level position for purposes of the federal wage and hour law.

This position is full-time and comes with benefits as described here. It is 35 hour per week, 52 weeks per year.
