Director of the Richard A. Henson Medical Simulation Center

Salisbury University, in Salisbury, Maryland, invites nominations and applications for the Director of the Richard A. Henson Medical Simulation Center. The Medical Simulation Center is a state-of-the-science learning facility that provides high-quality, life-like simulation experiences for students and community professionals across diverse health care and non-health care fields. The University is a student-centered, public regional comprehensive university focused on providing a high-quality undergraduate education while supporting a growing graduate student population. The scenic campus is located on Maryland's Lower Eastern Shore.

The Director will provide visionary leadership and expertise in simulation pedagogy to meet the needs of learners within Salisbury University and from the external community. The Director balances operations, administrative oversight, supervision, and development with goals of increased community partnerships and expanded educational capacity through professional development, and continuing education activities at the Center.

Minimum Qualifications: A master's degree in health and/or human services or related field and 3-5 years of experience overseeing development, implementation, and evaluation of healthcare simulation activities; working with and troubleshooting high-fidelity patient simulators, medical equipment and technology, audio/video equipment and software for recording, duplication, and editing video files. Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) and/or
Healthcare Simulation Operation Specialist (CHSOS) certification(s).

Reporting directly to the Dean of the newly formed College of Health and Human Services (CHHS), Dr. Kelly Fiala, the Director will champion policies and partnerships as the Simulation Center serves the University and the greater Salisbury region in health care. In operation for more than three years, CHHS is one of the largest academic units on campus, with over 2,100 students. The College strongly connects programs that have natural affinities, similar processes such as clinical and certification requirements, and shared goals. It also supports workforce demands as Maryland and the nation try to address the opioid epidemic, COVID-19, rapidly aging Boomer Generation, and distinct rural health care needs.
