Department Summary

The Department of Kinesiology offers three unique programs that can help students attain a successful career in the movement sciences. A CSUSB BS degree in Kinesiology can prepare students for a career in public school teaching, health promotion, fitness, and many different exercise professions. It can also prepare students for entrance into graduate and professional schools to study for health-related careers such as physical therapy, exercise science, sport pedagogy, or a variety of other human movement-related fields.

Job Duties

The Athletic Equipment Attendant will maintain and update computer records and inventories of all Kinesiology equipment issued and received; review and inspect all sports equipment for safely on a regular basis; assist in field, gym and other sport facility set ups for Kinesiology classes.

The incumbent will be responsible for the following job duties:
  • Maintain and update computer records and inventories of all Kinesiology equipment issued and received.
  • Review and inspect all sports equipment for safety on a regular recorded basis.
  • Assist in the field, gym, and other sport facility set-ups for Kinesiology classes.
  • Check out lockers, towels, and locks for students and faculty members.
  • Assist department in preparing budget requests.
  • Meet regularly with the Kinesiology Chair to assess problem areas and needs.
  • Maintain the padlock inventory for all locker rooms. Prepare padlocks and lockers for an issue each semester for all locker rooms.
  • Make needed repairs to damaged equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as asked by the Department Chair.
  • Communicate effectively with Kinesiology faculty members and other staff and faculty on campus.
  • Assist in budget development, inventory of current supplies, and ordering of needed supplies.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of CSUSB students.


Employment Status: Part-time, Non-Exempt, Probationary with the possibility of converting to permanent.

Work Schedule

The typical work schedule will be Monday through Friday, weekends and evenings may be required. The specific hours will vary from Semester to Semester. Total hours not to exceed 20 hours per week.

Key Qualifications
  • General knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in competitive sports in physical education classes.
  • Working knowledge of proper methods of storing equipment.
  • Working knowledge of preservatives and cleaning materials and techniques used in maintaining athletic equipment.
  • Ability to compare names and numbers rapidly and accurately.
  • Ability to take inventory and maintain various types of records.
  • Ability to maintain and perform minor repairs of athletic equipment.
  • Ability to supervise and work with assistants.
  • Ability to give routine first aid.
  • Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain an American Red Cross First Aid Certificate.

Education and Experience
  • One year of experience would provide adequate training for supervising the equipment supply services in a college athletic program.

  • Salary:

    Anticipated Hiring Range: $ 1,456 monthly (FTE 0.50)/$2,912 (FTE 1.0) - $1,768 (FTE 0.50)/$3,536 (FTE 1.0)

    Classification Salary Range: $2,912.00- $4,840.00 monthly (FTE 1.0)
