The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins is seeking anAdministrative Specialistwho will support the mission of the Department by providing complex administrative and project support to the Deputy Director and ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the Deputy Director’s office. This high-level position will provide direct support to the Deputy Director and Cancer Convergence Team and will interact with a wide range of external and internal high-level faculty and professionals.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plans, executes, and oversees a wide variety of special projects and special assignments related to the Cancer Center, Cancer Convergence Institute, and the division of GI Cancer.
  • Coordinates meetings, conferences and presentations that involve multi-institutions as well as industry partners. This includes providing technical assistance with teleconferences and webinars, and preparation of materials and slides.
  • Is responsible for special event planning for the Cancer Center, Cancer Convergence Institute, and the division of GI Cancer.
  • Prepares and edits correspondence for the Deputy Director.
  • Represents the Cancer Center, Cancer Convergence Institute, and the division of GI Cancer as appropriate in communicating professionally with faculty, administrators, and external contacts.
  • Coordinates travel for national and international meetings.
  • Independently manages the Deputy Director’s fast-paced and demanding calendar: organizes high level meetings, makes appropriate arrangements for meetings, compiles and prepares materials, confirms meeting details, assists with communication and other details as needed, prioritizes meeting requests and response times.
  • Assists with publication submissions.
  • Is responsible for dealing appropriately with highly sensitive, and confidential subject matter.
  • Places purchases orders, processes expense reports and reimbursements using SAP.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Five (5) years of experience providing progressively responsible administrative support with experience working on a wide variety of special projects and special assignments.
  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

* JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.  Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

  • Expertise in SharePoint, PowerPoint and Excel for presentations and analyses.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple competing priorities and to meet deadlines.
  • Possesses strong networking skills to work with outside agencies, advocacy groups, and other related organizations.
  • Ability to successfully problem-solve challenges as they arise.

Starting Salary Range:$51,210 - $70,480 annually (commensurate with experience)

Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
