The Department of Health Sciences has more than 40
interdisciplinary faculty, over 700 undergraduates and more than
280 graduate students in MPH, MS, and PhD programs. The
Department's teaching mission focuses on excellence and innovation
in undergraduate education and is supported by the University's
Center for Advancing Teaching and Learning through Research.
About the Opportunity:
Open-Rank FT NTT Teaching/Clinical Faculty [Health Ed,
Promotion and Evaluation]
The Department of Health Sciences, in Bouve College at Northeastern
University, invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track,
faculty position devoted to Health Promotion and Evaluation. This
is a 52-week appointment at the Boston campus, renewable annually,
with a 3/3/2 teaching load. Faculty title is dependent upon
experience and qualifications.
Candidates should present a record of successful teaching, at the
undergraduate or graduate level.
We are seeking candidates from diverse backgrounds, whose expertise
may range in focus on health equity, socioeconomic determinants of
health, structural racism, substance use, mental health, health
technologies, and/or environmental health. Also seeking candidates
who can provide a strong foundation in social and behavioral
sciences, and have demonstrated experience in health education
program design, implementation, and evaluation.
Applications will be accepted until December 17th, 2021. The
Department of Health Sciences is a CEPH accredited Public Health
Program that offers a Bachelor of Science degree with over 700
undergraduate majors, as well as a Master of Public Health and a
PhD in Population Health. The department also includes Master of
Health Informatics and Master of Science in Exercise Sciences
degree programs. This is a one-year appointment with the
possibility of renewal. The starting date is August
2022.Northeastern has identified health as one of three major
University-wide interdisciplinary strategic initiatives, and the
University is making a major investment in interdisciplinary health
research. In the last few years, we have hired faculty in personal
health informatics, data science and visualization (with a health
data emphasis), racism and health, environmental health, health
systems, health policy, global health, population health, and
In addition to teaching a 3/3/2 course load, in the classroom and
online, Teaching/Clinical faculty are expected to provide service
to the department/college/university. This service may include
student advising, committee work, curriculum development, program
assessment, and recruiting activities. Ongoing engagement in
scholarship and/or continuing professional development is also
required. Our institution values highly the scholarship of teaching
and supports scholarly/research activities in the faculty member's
areas of interest.
PhD or DrPH in Public Health, by the appointment start date.
Demonstrated experience in Health Education, Program Evaluation and
Social/Behavioral Sciences by the appointment start date.
Applicants should have a strong and established track record of
excellence in teaching and a demonstrated ability to mentor a
diverse community of students. Excellent oral and written
communication skills are required.
