Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Data Analytics

The School of Health Sciences seeks a highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and collaborative individual to assume the responsibilities of Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Data Analytics for a Fall 2022 appointment. More senior rank will be considered based on experience and other credentials.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence and enthusiasm in teaching and student advocacy; commitment to productivity and professional development; and active participation in school and college service that includes but is not limited to faculty standing committee work and academic advising.

Teaching responsibilities include courses in the Applied Mathematics, Statistics, and Data Analytics within the candidate's area of expertise and additional teaching assignments where expertise aligns with program needs.

Our growing undergraduate and graduate programs are looking to enhance and diversify offerings. The successful candidate will have the ability to work both within and beyond program specific needs to shape the on-going development of the curricula offered within the School of Health Sciences.

Successful candidates will demonstrate an avid interest in utilizing a project-focused approach to teaching, supporting the University's educational philosophy, Connected Learning. Faculty in all disciplines at Lasell may have the opportunity to teach in our Honors Program as well as the Core Curriculum, which could include teaching First Year Seminar, a Knowledge Perspective course in one of four areas, a sophomore multidisciplinary course, or a section of the junior Ethics Experience. Qualifications:
  • A doctorate in Statistics, Mathematics, or related field with demonstrated expertise in data science and/or analytics is required. Exceptional ABD or MS candidates with teaching and industry experience will also be considered.
  • Collegiate-level teaching experience
  • Skillful in attracting, retaining and graduating new students
  • Ability to teach upper level courses in the Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or Data Analytics majors
  • Knowledge and desire for culturally responsible pedagogy appropriate for STEM related programs
  • Serve as a research advisor for undergraduate and graduate students
  • Proficiency in and the ability to teach students programming languages (e.g., SAS, R, Python, SQL, etc.)
  • Ability to perform data analysis with state-of-the-art methods in statistics; experience in machine learning and other advanced data science tools
