Systems Administrator – Multiple Positions

Under the supervision of the Associate Director, Enterprise Technologies, the Systems Administrator (Professional Services Specialist III, Computer Services) is responsible for maintaining technical systems and software for the University. The Systems Administrator is also responsible for operating, monitoring, deploying, documenting, patching and troubleshooting core system infrastructure such as server operating systems, server hardware, virtualization platforms, storage arrays and applications. The Systems Administrator position is a subject matter expert in data center-centric to Cloud-based infrastructure that envision future state technologies, delivering increased agility, scalability, performance and resiliency. This role will support, analyze, administer and deploy solutions to drive technology modernization and the incorporation of industry best practices. This position is based at the Union, NJ campus but supports other campus locations in New Jersey. Position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.

This is not a remote position and requires a physical presence on campus as determined by the Supervisor. It requires working on campus during the COVID-19 pandemic and interacting directly with students following all procedures and protocols set forth in the University’s Restart Plan and any procedures/protocols created through additional correspondence.

Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree and two years of desktop support experience is required, including knowledge of helpdesk solutions such as an IT ticketing system and remote support tools. Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute experience on a year for year basis. Preferred qualifications include: A Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science or related field and at least two years of experience in technical support including Systems Administration and/or Systems Engineering; experience with Active Directory including maintaining several domains, VMWARE or similar virtual desktop solutions both on premise and cloud hosted; b asic Linux Systems Administration skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 Cloud and Windows Server Administration. Microsoft, AWS, Google Cloud or equivalent certifications are a plus. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.

The selected candidate will be required to pass a four (4) month Working Test Period to become eligible for a regular appointment.
