Development Assistant

Located in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.
Position Summary:
The ideal candidate will join a vibrant and inclusive educational community and will have a desire and ability to work with a diverse population.
This position will utilize relationship management software (Raiser’s Edge NXT) to process donor information and to track and report on prospects, donors, alumni, and fundraising activities of the Capital Campaign and Advancement staff.
In addition, in an effort to coordinate campus-wide outreach efforts, this position will serve as the point of contact for MassBay employees seeking to reach out to community organizations, businesses, potential donors, and other stakeholders.
Absolute confidentiality, professionalism, collegiality, and discretion are required.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:


Development Administration
  • Receiving all pledges to the campaign;
  • Entering new prospects into Raisers Edge;
  • Entering all pledges and gifts to the campaign and the College into Raisers Edge;
  • Supporting fundraising events by mailing and tracking attendance through Raisers Edge;
  • Tracking pledge payments, both internal and external;
  • Working collaboratively with the Finance Department to ensure reconciliation of accounts;
  • Notifying donors of overdue pledge payments;
  • Generating end of the year donor gift thank you letters;
  • Providing accurate information for the College’s Annual Report;
  • Producing and sending acknowledgment letters to donors as they are received;
  • Performing database queries;
  • Updating contacts within the database;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Outreach Coordinator
  • Provide input as the College establishes an efficient system to support a coordinated approach to outreach to current and future donors and/or partners;
  • Triage internal requests for existing contact information;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Ability to create reports to evaluate fundraising progress, including donor reports and other queries;
  • Knowledge-base of databases;
  • Availability to work five days each week, remotely or on-campus.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree;
  • Some finance experience (3-5 years);
  • Working knowledge of Raisers Edge NXT;
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Financial;
  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action and workforce diversity;
  • Experience working in a diverse environment;
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with under served students.

Additional Information:

Salary Range: $17.00 - 25.00 Hourly Wage
