The Opportunity

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University - Daytona Beach campus is seeking an energetic, fun-creating aquatics coordinator to lead programming and operations for our soon-to-open brand new, heated and cooled, outdoor pool designed for leisure and play, and exercise. This includes policy development and education, risk management, as well as program design, implementation, and evaluation. The coordinator is also responsible for student employee recruitment, training, supervision, and leadership development.

Primary responsibilities include:

Programming and Risk Management
  • Design and implement risk management policies and procedures for water and surrounding area safety to include lifeguard surveillance and rotation strategies for various use patterns, and emergency action plans.
  • Creation and implementation of engaging, fun aquatic programs and events, to include monthly outreach events, challenges and contests, as well as swim lessons
  • Manage and teach Lifeguard Certification Courses, Water Safety Instructor Courses
Student Development and Supervision (Lifeguards; Water Safety Instructors)
  • Provide leadership for student staff
  • Implement education strategies for student staff to enhance lifesaving, risk management, communication, and leadership skills.
Administrative
  • Coordinate aquatic facility hours of operation, reservation requests, lifeguard staffing, inventory, etc.
  • Manage marketing efforts via internal communication strategies and social media
Qualifications

Minimum qualifications
  • Genuine interest in student development and well-being, community, and fostering skills and appreciation for lifelong physical activity through aquatics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Lifeguard instructor and water safety instructor certifications
Preferred qualifications
  • Master’s degree
  • Experience in campus recreation
  • Management experience
