Position

The Department of Psychology at John Brown University (https://www.jbu.edu/majors/psychology/) seeks a full-time faculty member with a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and the integration of Christian faith with psychology to begin by July 1, 2022. Area of teaching and research specialty program are open, with a preference for a background in clinical/counseling or developmental psychology. Teaching responsibilities include a blend of introductory and upper-division courses with additional opportunity to design/develop coursework in one’s area of expertise or specialization for the ‘selected topics’ rotation of courses in the department. Other responsibilities include academic advising and mentoring students, recruiting for the major, and service on university committees.

Program

The Department of Psychology resides within the College of Education and Social and Behavioral Sciences and offers courses leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Psychology. The department has three faculty members with more than 90 residential majors (and over 70 majors in an associated online program which offers additional teaching opportunities). We are excited to welcome a new colleague who can add significantly with their teaching and scholarship to a growing department that fosters the advancement of our graduates who serve in a wide variety of professional and human service vocations.

Required Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree or higher in Psychology or a closely related field
  • A commitment to teaching undergraduate courses
  • A commitment to the integration of the Christian faith and teaching
  • A commitment to working with a diverse population of students
  • Must be a committed follower of Jesus Christ

Preferred Qualifications

  • A doctorate degree in Psychology or a closely related field
  • Evidence of scholarly potential
  • Experience teaching undergraduate students and/or experience in professional psychology
  • Demonstrated experience with diverse populations

Salary

A competitive salary exists which will be commensurate with training and/or experience. In addition, JBU offers a comprehensive benefits package including 403(b) retirement plan, medical and dental insurance, tuition remission, leave related to the birth of a child, adoption leave, and moving expenses.
